Everyone loves Ellen DeGeneres. I honestly can’t think of a single negative thing that has ever been said about her, and in our current social climate, that’s saying a lot.
Ellen makes the world a better place. Her talk show is a daily ray of sunshine in a sea of garbage television, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. She’s a total business powerhouse with a record company, production company and lifestyle business. Her website, ellentube, is an absolute treasure trove of hilarity, perfectly curated with her signature sense of mischievous humor. I spent two hours this morning doing “research” when I should have been writing this blog post. Not sorry.
She voiced one of the most lovable and recognizable animated characters of all time, Dory from Finding Nemo. Her whale speak is quite literally, one of my favorite movie moments ever. I snort-giggle every time I think about it.
She’s a tireless activist for LGBTQ rights, animal rights and women’s issues and she pursues her activism with humor and heart. I cried right along with her when she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016 by Barack Obama.
She created Head’s Up, which is the BEST game to play with your kids while waiting in line at amusement parks, or anywhere else. (Tip: the Disney version is free if you download it while in the park!)
She normalized being a gay woman in America and her relationship with her wife Portia is a true love story. What I find fascinating and hopeful is that after 20 years of being openly gay she is still beloved by all. I think it’s because Ellen is an authentic and deeply likable human being. This is the way we overcome hatred and bigotry, with representation, authenticity and Ellen DeGeneres.
WEEEEE LOOOOOOOVE YOOOOOUUUU ELLLLLEEEENNN!
