Officiating is available as part of a coaching engagement only, because the ceremony should be the moment you claim the partnership you’ve built, not a standalone service. What makes I Do Differently different from premarital counseling?

Premarital counseling typically asks about conflict style and communication preferences — and calls it preparation. It doesn’t mention the mental load, cognitive labor, or the fact that even progressive couples default to gendered dynamics without active intervention. I Do Differently gets to the root of what actually creates inequality and replaces it with systems that hold up under the pressure of real life. This isn’t therapy. It’s building the foundation your partnership deserves.

Do we need to be engaged to work with you?

The I Do Differently offerings are designed for engaged couples, but the coaching work is relevant at any stage. If you’re not yet engaged, a custom coaching package may be the right fit. Reach out and we’ll figure out what makes sense for where you are.

Do you offer officiating without coaching?

Officiating is only available as part of a coaching engagement — not as a standalone service. The ceremony should be the moment you claim the partnership you’ve built together. If you have another officiant and want coaching only, that’s absolutely available through a custom package.

What if my partner is skeptical?

Skepticism is normal and workable. This work isn’t about blame — it’s about freeing both partners from conditioning that’s been limiting the partnership. Most partners who arrive uncertain leave with a very different experience.

When should we start?

Starting 9–12 months before your wedding gives you the most runway to apply the work during the engagement itself — when the patterns are most visible and most changeable. But if you’re closer to your date, reach out anyway. We’ll figure out what’s possible.

How much time does the program require?

This work asks for real investment — not just time on a calendar, but genuine engagement between sessions. Couples who get the most out of coaching come in ready to reflect, practice, and apply what they’re learning to the real dynamics showing up in their relationship. If you’re in a season of life where you can’t make that kind of space, the retreat format may actually be a better fit — four focused days where the work is the only thing on your agenda.
